Mix shafts

The order of the shafts does not matter.
The possibilities of a threading are the same if the shafts are mixed ; if we renumber them.

We should rather speak of a threading, "modulo" any permutation of the shafts, or of a shaft as a subset of threads of the threading, without any idea of order.

It is this fundamental aspect of shaft weaving that we are going to study in this article.

We will use this observation for the construction of larger inlets by amalgamation.
