Josefin Gäfvert

I’m a weaving artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m currently doing my second year at the master program CRAFT! at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design. I’ve been a full time weaver since 2014, mostly doing work for exhibitions. My work is process-based and I deliberately use dyeing and weaving technique as a tool for putting myself into unknown territory. I think the process needs to be intense to produce energy, alternating between fear and excitement. Through my weaving I want to make visible the possibilities of hand weaving and make people think about what get’s lost when we take away the creative process from manufacturing.
”The red bookshelf” is a weave that I made in a collaboration with Malmstensbutiken, and it’s inspired by Carl Malmsten’s ideas about craft and design.
