Ali Giles-Damjanovska
Early years was the study of clothing construction and fashion design before working as a haute couture sample hand in Melbourne. Lately has been five years study with master weaver Liz Calnan in all weaving techniques. This awarded me a finalist position for the Seed Stitch Textile Award, Australian Design Centre 2020 before winning The Isabel Watt Memorial Perpetual Trophy for the most outstanding exhibit in design and execution in Hand Weaving, RAS 2021. Currently enrolled in the Master of Curatorial and Museum Studies programme (Textiles) 2023 - University of Adelaide. My main weaving interests are: fabric lengths and piece weaving, ethnic designs and techniques, archaeological weaving.
